Campground Information - Campsite Photos

– We stayed at this campground in October of 2024. This is my story, my opinions and photos of the campground. The good, the bad and the pretty.

At the beginning of September we started a 6 week RV vacation. Staying in Oregon was near the end of our trip. Throughout the trip, like many of you know, you receive the email confirming your upcoming stay. We received one from Thousand Trails and it mentioned sites are FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. Yikes!! Did we miss something when we booked this campground? We almost cancelled but there wasn’t another campground to choose from in that area (that we liked). We liked that this campground was near the downtown area. (We are not members of Thousand Trails and this was the first time we had stayed at one)

We decided to stick with this campground and hope for the best. My husband was fine with the unknown but I was worried about it. How does this system work? Will there be a line of people looking for a site? I’m used to knowing what type of site we’ll have. Back In, Pull Through, Full or Partial Hookups. There was no mention of checking in at the office or camp store. You would check in with the “ranger” at the entrance kiosk.

When we arrived at the campground there was an employee in the kiosk who greeted us and gave us our reservation paperwork. He instructed us to the RV disconnect area (we tow a Jeep), drive around the campground (he gave us a map) and find a site that we would like and to place our paperwork on the site post.

If you look at the campground map you will see where we were. We drove up to Grand Avenue and the E sites. We saw some sites that were so dark from the thick pine trees, that it looked like it was night time, when it was 2:00 in the afternoon. We came to one site that was sunny and put our paper on the post.

We headed back to get the RV and thought we would check out Area C. We found C18 which was very sunny and changed our paperwork to that site. One positive thing about this process, even though it stressed me out, is that if I was booked to be in one of those dark sites, I would have been really unhappy and asked to move.

The campground has some full hookup sites, but good luck finding one available. Our site had water and power, most of what you need unless you have to dump during your stay.

We were right across from the restrooms and showers which was nice.

I do have to point out that upon making my reservation, it does say “You select your site upon arrival.

So … get your quarters ready, laundry soap and dryer sheets. Take a book or something to do while you do your laundry.

Well … not so fast. ALL of the washers and dryers on our trip, and we stayed at over 10 campgrounds, had quarter operated machines. Well, not this one. You have install an App on your phone, put funds in it and then you can wash and dry your clothes. Ugg.

There was a nice man doing laundry who offered me to use the app on his phone and I could reimburse him, but I told him I would use the app. I think I know why they do this … so they don’t have to collect the quarters … yep…

While I was doing laundry, I was chatting with a man who is a member of Thousand Trails. It’s like a time share. You pay so much a year and you can stay at any Thousand Trails included in your contract. He said he could stay up to three weeks and then would have to leave for a week before coming back for another three weeks. Another man came in and joined the conversation. He didn’t sign up as long ago as the first man, so his contract was different. So … everyone has a different zone and rules I guess.

On the Thousand Trails website it shows that you can camp all year with no nightly fees. You pay yearly, choose a zone or all of them, and paying a price.

NO CAMP STORE

Nope. If you’re hoping for a little campstore to visit, shop, pick up odds and ends, you’ll be disappointed as there is no campstore at this campground.

They do sell ice at the kiosk.
